Completed.. Finally!

We've finally finished our Experimental piece and managed to burn it to discs without any major issues :)
Hopefully the presentation will go okay.
There's parts of the piece that i really like (and really enjoyed making) but there are also things which i would definately do differently had i had the extra time.
I thoroughly enjoyed creating the clown and mask segments and think they look fantasticly creepy, Emma was great to allow us to cover her in facepaint and make her go infront of the camera, it wouldnt have worked aas well without her.
I wish we'd been able to secure the recording of the insects and creepy crawlies section at the exotic pet shop as we'd planned (although some of the ones we did manage to include were thankfully Jess' family pets in York), although luckily Martine had agreed that this was fine.
I dont like the look of the cemetry shots we took, on the day because it was so cold and we were having battery issues, we rushed the shots slightly, and im not sure the day for night shooting and colour correction worked as well as we'd have liked in order to make it appear that we'd shot it at night.
I also think it would have worked a lot better had we had the audio interview idea earlier on in our development stage as we could have matched all the images to the audio rather than matching as much of the audio to the images, and i think we would have realised we needed more variety in interviewee voices sooner which the project would have benefitted from.
Other than that it was a fun piece to create, one which id been initially quite uncomfortable about doing (purely due to how open the brief was), which has taught me a lot of different things related to both production processes and the experimental genre in general.

Editing Day

The bulk of our editing was done today, although we've been in the editing process for over a week now, its really come together today.
Jess and Emma have done amazingly, Ive assisted where i could in the edit (mainly cutting down audio interviews and offering a second opinion on the rest of it) but i have to admit they've done almost all of the editing between them. They've spent since 9 or 10 this mornign in the edit suite, i left them at 8.30pm because im not feeling well but apparently they're still at it now, which is about 12 hours in (!)

The image ive included is from quite early on in the day, as you can see there's a few layers, however as we went through the day, the layering increased and rendering time got longer and longer, unfortunately we forgot to take a lot of screengrabs at that point as we were so determined to get the project completed with spare time to burn to disc incase it takes forever..

Audio Editing begins

Finally its about time we startedcutting up and editing together some of our many collected sounds..

Ordering

Today we're working on ordering and reordering the piece until it flows nicely. Martine gave some good ideas  and Jess seems to be rolling with it. We've scrapped the exam room idea as it doesnt really fit in with the pace of the piece and was mainly an introductory scene, which is good in that we seem to have some sort of plan but no so good in that that was our most planned out segment..

So far today we dont seemt o be panicking though, we're just crackign on..

Tutorial with Martine

Ive not been able to attend todays tutorial due to it being rescheduled at a time that i needed to be at work (i tried changing my start time but had no luck) but ive just had a text from Jess saying that it actually went really well. Im so glad it did as i was quite worried about it, particularly as it was so close to the presentation date and we felt like we were quite far away from completing the project. Luckily Emma reminded me that we're all quite good at working to a fast approaching deadline which put some of my panics at rest.

Martine has given us some good tips apparently and encouraged the girls which is good, im looking forward to hearing the pros and cons of our piece tomorrow when i meet them for more editing

Title Decided

We finalyl decided on a title (well Jess thought of it but we all like it):
What's yours?
I think it fits well with the piece as that's pretty much the question we asked all our interviewees, and it also doesnt immediately give away what the piece is about
