Cemetry shootign.... again!

We went back to the cemetry to attempt the cemetry shots again, this time with the aim to shoot day for night. It was ridiculously cold which meant that the battery kept deciding it was dying even though we knew it had at least 6 hours of battery life left.

By the time we actually go to the cemetry and got set up, we only had a limited amount of time before it started getting dark again (much of which was wasted waiting for dogwalkers or random photographers to get out of shot). Fingers crossed that our Day for Night technique that we researched works okay.. we'll have to wait for the edit..

Transforming Emma into a Clown

Today we filmed in my (very cold) cellar with Dado lights again, only this time we covered Emma in Clown makeup and made her pop balloons. Probably the most fun ive had on this entire project.

And it actually looks pretty Creepy

Parashoot Form

Finally got the Parashoot Form finished, its late being completed as we've already started doing bits of shooting, which isnt ideal in the slightest, and isnt good practice, however we've not finished filming yet so it could be worse..
Ill just have to make sure i complete it before shooting next time..

Cemetry Shooting

We took the equipment out to the cemetry today to practice some initial shots, we found some really creepy gravestones, some that are actually open which should look good on camera.

Unfortunately, somehow we'd all managed to forget how important good lighting is, we'd hoped to be able to get enough time to get almost half a dozen short shots of the cemetry as it gets dark, we underestimated how long it takes to set up though..

I took a couple of photos as we were leaving which show just how bad our lighting situation eventually was. We have plans to do a little research on Day for Night Shooting Techniques before our next cemetry shoot attempt

Interviews

I interviewed my housemates today, i managed to get them to talk for over 20 minutes between them, some of it really good stuff, some of it not so good. Emma managed to interview a few other people from uni so we're finally on a roll with the audio side of things

Pet Shops Say Noo

So we were really hoping for the pet shops to allow us to record on a day they're not so busy, unfortunately Middletons in town wont allow us to go in (quite a stroppy grumpy manager), I tried ringing round to get permission from other pet shops that might have some of the same kinds of insects that we need but unfortunately either they dont seem to want us there due to the lack of space (some are quite small shops) or they just dont have the insects in that we want to shoot at the moment. Our last resort, an exotic pet shop in York (where Jess is from) said they'd be happy to have us but not for at least 3 weeks as they're being renovated, which of course is too late ..
Aaargh..
Emma has been online and purchased a variety of live insects as a backup plan, though im not sure they'll work as we intended, and there's definately no furry spiders there, but its an attempt. Fingers crossed it arrives on time..
So it looks like we'll have to work with just Jess' pet lizards and whatever we get from Emma's online purchasing, and hope it all fits in together..

Jess in York

Jess has gone home to York for the day, taking a camera, a light and the tripod in order to shoot someones selection of creepy porcelain dolls and her dog baring his teeth and growling..
Hopefully she manages with all the kit okay..
